AMS Expansion Construction Set to Begin February 2016

The Anna Middle School expansion plans are progressing.  The architect presented a plan for this project at the November School Board Meeting. The architect previously met with district administration, campus teachers, and the AISD Strategic Planning Committee to develop a preliminary floor plan. Based on the input from these groups, the Anna ISD Board of Trustees reviewed and approved the architect’s proposed plans.

This January, the district will move forward with this project by selling the 2005 voter-approved bonds. Upon completion of the bond sale, construction will begin in February. The AMS expansion will add 21 classrooms. The band and theatre arts classrooms will increase to meet the demands of the number of students participating in the program. We will also increase the capacity of the cafeteria. In addition, the district will review the need to replace roofing and air conditioning systems. The finalized plans will be displayed in the main entrance of Anna Middle School and placed on our website, wwwannisd.org.

Stride is defined as “decisive steps in a specified direction.” This exemplifies Anna ISD, as our district is committed to taking the steps necessary to successfully grow with Anna. Anna ISD continues to advance forward, to ensure our students have the best educational experience possible. Guided by district administration and our strategic plan, we have a clear vision of where we need to take our district.

This blog will help keep you informed on happenings of Anna ISD and progress of our growth -- as well as brag on our outstanding students and staff. I appreciate your continued participation in our success and time spent reading my blog, Strides by Superintendent Slaughter.
